I don't and probably never will. I just cannot justify spending €500-€700 on a phone or a bill pay for €50 per month.

    I own a telephone.

Yes, bought it recently and I love it.

Also, not sure where you're getting your information from. I bought the iphone outright for about €500 and my monthly bill is just the usual €20 a month 30 day rolling contract standard thingy. If you're paying €50 a month for the bill then usually it means you've got the phone on a contract and will bay €150ish for it.

If you paid €500 for the phone and are paying €50 a month on a bill you're doing it wrong.

I have done the last few years, the best one they had was the iPhone 4. Seriously thinking of android or windows for my next phone, the current iPhone is nothing new and not worth much.

Yeah, because when you get one you can spend hour after hour rooting them, changing the OS, putting on widgets and customising them!

As where the iPhone works fine out of the box....(and costs me nothing, my phone provider gives me them for free as my company spends a fortune with them. Might get the new Lumia in a few weeks just to try that out too.)

Have an iPhone and a Galaxy S3. The S3 is collecting dust beside the Galaxy Tablet in my bottom drawer.

Now, I'll just sit back and wait for the android fan boys to slate my opinion....

no, by the time ill have saved up for one they'll have a another new one out with like one added feature. Ill stick with android thank you very much.

    Does it have original snake?

    No?

Then what do I want with it? Give me the Nokia 3210 any day!

Wait, you meant that first part to be a bad point?

The fact that you CAN root and change the OS?

You know Android works out of the box too right?

Yes, but it's slow and clunky, the email client is incredibly poor for dealing with MS Exchange, screen swipe takes too long compared to iphone, camera pics are often out of focus or fuzzy, KIES is the worst piece of software ever, and they are full of bloatware.

I've tried them, and i just prefer the iPhone.

Yeah, Android phones work great out of the box. Only reason most would root it or change anything is because we can easily and because some of us just like doing it.

and that's about all it comes down to. if you like fiddling, use android, if you just want to use your phone as it is, iphone all the way.

Screenwipe takes too long? Mother of God, how long do you want to be waiting? It's instant! It's a split second action.

The missus has a Lumia and it would be a neat little phone if it wasn't Windows. Nothing wrong with the OS itself, it's just that the app market isn't quite there yet compared to the others.

I'm sure the'll catch up though like Android did.

Also, IMO it's not an good-looking phone.

you're kidding, half the time there's a real drag to the process, the screen seemingly frozen for a fraction of a second, not good enough IMO

    i don't read blogs.

Yep, a lot. The new Nokia Lumia 920 is pretty much the best phone on the market right now.

Nope. I would love one but seeing as I only use about a tenner a month on my crappy, prehistoric but fully functional Nokia I neither could justify the expense

Gin is the answer. With a slice of cucumber and a twist of lime.

Well there are great apps too that you can only get with a rooted phone.

But for the average phone user who just texts, calls, internet and camera, the Iphone probably comes out tops.

Though id still never buy an Iphone - expensive junk.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,076 ✭✭✭✭Czarcasm

I have to say their build quality and software is nothing short of exceptional.

BUT, I personally don't like the aesthetics of the device. It's far too thin and I prefer a bulky phone I can operate one handed comfortably as opposed to holding the phone in one hand to keep it steady while using the other hand to dial numbers or write e-mails.

For me though I think my next phone will be a Nokia Lumia 920. As much as I like ideas like facetime and iMessage on the iphone, there are other reasons why I've always preferred Nokia and especially compatibility with the Microsoft ecosystem.

I've never had an iPhone because I despise Apple over the way they treated me many years ago when I foolishly bought an iPod. Probably the worst purchase I ever made. And since then Apple have become proper nasty cnuts, doing everything they can to try hinder innovation by suing everyone who creates a better product. Apple are on my balcklist, which has Creative and Sony now too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,297 ✭✭✭Jaxxy

I had an iphone but after having to replace it with an S2 I'll never go back to apple. I now have a Note II and I absolutely love it, it's my dream phone.

That said I agree that KIES is bloody AWFUL and don't use it at all.

That's usually what I think too. It's kinda great to have full control over the phone with those apps, once your phone is rooted and they're granted SuperUser permission.

I have a Sorny uPhone Universe S3. It runs Cyborg Ice Jelly Bean Cream.

Nifty piece of equipment though it gets really hot if you use it for more than 30 seconds and can't make phonecalls if it's near people with blonde hair.
