Universal are releasing a new comedy soon from Seth Gordon (director of Horrible Bosses and King of Kong) called Identity Thief. The film stars Jason Bateman as mild-mannered businessman Sandy Patterson who travels from Denver to Miami to confront the deceptively harmless-looking woman who has been living it up after stealing Sandy's identity, played by Melissa McCarthy.

This looks like it could be a laugh as the central pairing are quite funny.

    Release Date: March 22nd, 2013

I like the lead actors but I'd say the best "funny" laughs are in the trailer

They say never judge a book by it's cover but based on the trailer this has all the hallmarks of being one of 2012's worst wide releases. I doubt it's much of a comedy and from the trailer I get the impression that it's one of those films that will try to have the viewer sympathies with a character who is completely immoral and just a really awful person. The fact that it's close to 2 hours in length is enough for me to go out of my way to avoid it, that and the fact that I cannot stand McCarthy who far as I'm concerned is one of the least humorous people ever to grace our screens.

Isnt this just an episode of Friends? where someone had Monica's credit cards and was living it up on them?

IMO - terrible movie, 2 or 3 out of 10 at the most.

I actually really enjoyed this, nicely entertaining, a few little bit teary moments, and a good few laughs! :) Plus Melissa MacCarthy is all kinds of awesome, loved her since her role in Bridesmaids! Would go see it again tbh!

Not as bad as I thought. Still pretty sh!te though. The leads are just about holding this bag of piss together. The odd slapstick laugh, but that's about it.

The makers took Trains, Planes & Automobiles, Midnight Run and the episode of Friends where chick (fat chick and all) steals Monica's identity and mashed it all together. Fair play to the filmmakers, they did nothing to hide this fact. Brazen or what.
