first car... looking at Chervolet Kalos

Hi all,
my bro is looking at getting his first car and he has around 4k to spend. He wont be driving any big distances as he is within walking distance of work and family. He has been looking at Chervolet Kalos 2006 as they seem to be the best value. Has anyone any advice on whether its a good option or any other recommendations. He doesnt want anything over 1.2l for tax/insurance reasons

There's a lot to be said for them, but you need to buy one that's been minded. They are a cheap car and lots have been reposessed, these cars are often neglected.
You'll get a very new one for the money.

If I had €4k to spend the Chervolet Kalos would be the last car on my shopping list. They really are a poor car compared to the competition, your bro can do alot better with his €4k.

Drop back a few years and get a first generation yaris is my advice. They are a very reliable car and are cheap and easy to maintain.

The 07 fabia from above, just noticed that it was NCTd last year but only until this year? Does that mean there was a year lapse with no nct on the car?

4 K for a 06 Kalos. No words to describe how overpriced that car is.
OP try a Honda Jazz. Great little (lots of space and very economical). Or a Mazda 2 if you can get one at that price level.
On a different planet to a Kalos in terms of quality and finish and driving dynamics.
