No, I couldn't in good conscience help in any way to produce a device for which the sole purpose is to kill other humans.

Depends on the weapons. Boxing gloves on springs and cannons that only exist to explode when cartoon characters try to launch themselves out of them? Be fine with that.

I grew up reading nothing but war books and air-warfare encyclopedia's but I always was anti-war. I appreciate the technology and stuff (XB-70's and SR-71's and the like)

I does annoy me that I'l be flying aircraft made by players in the military-industrial complex though.

    Yup. No problem there.

I have in the past, although I wasn't making weapons, and I would again. I know it's a cliche, but weapons don't kill people.

yes and anyone who is unemployed and says no are lazy pricks

I'd have no qualms considering the weapons that do the most damage are very computerized and use components that are common in a lot of communications/tech devices, so working for a tech company that develops micro chips may pose the same question. If I had a choice I'd work in an ammo factory. They will always need more ammo.

For anyone who says no on moral grounds - ahahahahahaha

I think you'll find the vast majority of jobs can somehow be linked back to questionable ethics in some shape or form.

You don't get to choose. You're merely a cog in the meat-grinding machine.

Do I live in Iran or North Korea for the purposes of this? I don't want to live there, but if it were located somewhere nice, I don't care whose weapons they are.

Let's pretend that the company is in Ireland but the weapons are for N. Korea and Iran so that you get to spend your money in relative freedom while the weapons you make are used to make people's lives miserable.

I know men, make most stuffs lol in their little factories but manufacture is such a sexist word.

just remember what factory made you!

I think the salient question is: if you are willing to work in a weapons factory would you be willing to shoot somebody in the face?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,027 ✭✭✭✭titan18

Definitely. Considering most likely I'm going to be employed by some financial services company, weapons manufacturer is so much cooler than that

Chucky baby, the problem is, I abhor violence as much ad you, but ee wouldnt be having this conversation if yours or mine forefathers hadn't disemboweled someone in the distant past. Weapons exist, and so do we.

I'd work for Hank Scorpio in a heart beat. Excellent medical care and he's located near a fine hammock district.

But we humans used to accept slavery and we mostly left it behind. We used to not allow minorities to vote but we progressed from there. We crafted human rights after the mass industrialised slaughter of the world wars.

Things don't have to stay the way they are because they've always been that way shure they don't?

    No, I wouldn't.

Ever see the gun smiths in 'Sons of Guns'? They come up with some crazy shìt. It looks like the coolest job a man could want.

If it was an operation like that then I'd do it in a heart beat but I have no idea what it would be like working in a massive plant were they make missiles and the like. Making weapons that you know will kill masses of people. Probably not.

True Chuck, but none of those advancements would have been made without weaponry, sad but true.

I believe both are very well paid.
The rent boy has the advantage of not paying taxes but the executioner will have job perks and security
