    Hi,

I'm wondering if anybody might be able to recommend a good Montessori school on Cork city, as close to the centre as possible. My little man is almost 10 months & we feel its about time to start socialising him with his 'peers'! Do these schools take young babies, or is it mostly older babies?

I'm a new(ish) mother who doesn't have a clue about schools, preschools, crèches etc!

    Thanks :-)

Im not certain but dont think a montsssori will take babies. My son goes to one and its just kids of 3 and 4 for the year or 2 years before primary school. Others might be different. Plenty of creches about tho that could take him.

It would probably be a creche you would be looking for, i think they have to be potty trained for most montessori's,

Montisorri's take toilet trained children 1 year before school.

    You're looking for a creche.

What side of the city are you?

    Hi guys,

I've only realised just now there were replied! Sorry for the delay. I must have missed the email or something....

I'm in St.Luke's area of the city, so anywhere close by it even in the city centre would be handiest! On saying that I don't mind a bit of travelling to find the best place.

Also I've been told that we should start looking at primary schools already!!! Is this necessary???

Necessary..no...advisable..YES. Pick the school you want and get childs name on list asap. It may not be a problem getting in to the school you want BUT you don't want to find out in 2/3 years that it is full and end up having to travel further or go somewhere you don't want to. No harm in getting it done as early as possible if the school is accepting enrollments for the year your child is due to start.

Walaroo and Happy Days are two good local Montessoris.

As regards primary, yes, put their name down in the schools you are interested in. It does no harm to start now.

Thanks guys. Was onto Wallaroo, but they only take kids from 4 years. I will look into Happy Days though.

Wow, primary school seems so far away!!! But I suppose the time will fly.

    Thanks for your help.
