Has anyone installed "cow cam" calving cameras ? I am considering purchasing one. They are readily available in local Co.Op.s at reasonable cost. How well do they work ? Do they give trouble ? Would I be better engage a local TV technician to install their camera ?

Any comments or advice would be appreciated .

There is a new system called Vel'Phone that looks good. its tells you when the cows is due to calve by temperature sensor.

I have 2 of them.Got one last yr and found it very easy to install.Im near the sheds so signal is good.Find the hand held unit great at night as you dont need to turn on a tv to check .Night vision works good. The range of the hand held unit drops a lot indoors.I had hoped to use it in the Kitchen but the signal couldnt go through two walls.Got a second unit this year and run both cameras on a loop which i feel changes too fast (every 5 secs)and cant be adjusted. Now you can view both cameras on their own but you need to swap over manually .Had a bit of bother setting up camera 2 as both were on the same frequency and i had to change the 2nd camera by removing the lens and moving a tiny switch.Mullinahone distribute them and have a rep who knows his stuff.

Thanks farmer Paul for that. I will check it out. I have seen reference to it here before but it is quite expensive I think. Will check it out.

Thanks fastrac. It seems you are quite happy with how the cameras performed so I will get an update on the price and decide.
