    Hi guys,

hoping one of you may have a solution. When I start the engine cold, once i get the revs up, the car jumps/ jaunts forward, as if you were changing from 5th to 1st gear lets say. I change the gear up, and the problem disappears for a bit.

Once the car is warmed up, I've no problem. The yellow engine light intermittently comes on.

Is this a fuel injector problem. I'm hoping it's not serious as the car is not worth putting the money into I don't think although I can't afford anything new at the moment.

    Any replies are appreciated,

    Thanks,
    Tom

    could be:

    1. your tranny
    2. your clutch
    3. MIL or malfunction indicator lamp illuminating due to some errors on you car.

Get an OBD reader and find out what the error code is. Chances are the two are related and its a sensor problem.

Hi jonathan13, I think you could be right.

So an update, went on a long drive last week 400+miles. about 20 miles from home, cruising about 110kmph, the gears seemed to be slipping. I eventually got it home, and since i stopped the car and turned off the engine, it seems ok although i haven't pushed it into 5th gear yet(where the slipping seemed to occur). So I am thinking it may be the clutch.

OK so. The reason for the drive was that I purchased a new car(perfect timing!), so if any of you guys could help me further i'd be greatly appreciative.

The car is outside the door and I want rid of, looking for the best possibility financially.

    Do I:
    a) get it repaired and hope I can sell it? (Don't really have the money now)
    b) sell as seen on donedeal etc...
    c) I've heard of these guys (we buy any car type of thing)

It's not a bad car, just had a new(reconditioned) radiator fitted, only 100k miles, nice and clean and when running properly would be a decent car for somebody on a small budget. trust me I've seen worse cars out there and have seen people buy worse cars.

    Thanks,
    Tom

Its slipping cause' it can't bear with the heat build up on the clutch especially on higher speeds or higher engine revs due to wear & tear.

If you want to sell it on your "selling price" then have it repair. Clutch repair would cost you less than 500€ and if you would look around there maybe cheaper options around your area.

And if you will sell it "as seen" then just state that it needs a new clutch. But don't expect too much since it needs repair.

so you decide which one is best for you and good luck selling!

BTW, i currently have the same car and experienced that same problem last year.

You have to ask yourself could you get much more than a grand if the clutch was fixed.

You'd get €500 for it as it stands, maybe more? I dont think its a car I'd put money into if you have a new car bought. Clean it up, have it starting on the button, donedeal it, buyer beware:)

you think it'd be worth 500 quid, i think i'd near take that tbh and be rid of it. haven't got the money at the mo to be fixing it

Put it up for €600 -700 ono, sold for repair, and take what you get. Dont mean to be smart but its worth €170-190 cubed and if it isn't driving that'll probably end up what you'll have to do with it.

It'll only get worse, so clean it, photograph it, write an advert and put it on dd and adverts. I'd drive it as little as possible or not at all, just keep it starting on the button, and try and sell it fast. Otherwise you're option will be to fix it to sell or cube it;)

If you had say a 1.0l or a diesel, i'd advise you to fix it; a model that even fixed and freshly tested may take some time to sell like yours, i think I'd cut my losses:)
