We have a 11mth old pedigree bull out of one of our best cows, great looking animal problem is he's by Elite Erasmus ERE so his index is poor to say the least. The thing that concerns me most is despite the fact he was born naturally himself his ease of calving index is up on 13% difficulty.i'm not sure weather we should sell him now as commercial or keep him on and sell him around may time for breeding.

he may improve in the next proof run but that isnt untill the end of April so its a gamble to wait based on that.

if he is a nice bull seems a pity not to use for breeding, potential buyers can make up their own mind on him when they see him and his breeding

yeh i know what ur saying vander its just a number of years ago we went to tully to buy a bull and we ruled out anything over 7% difficulty..... in saying that the fella we did buy caused plenty of trouble on the calving front:o think we would have run a mile from a 13% lad:rolleyes:

What is the Dam and Grandam by? What's the reliability figure for calving value?
ERE is 20% now for calving with 97% Rel, so that would be a concern.

dam is a 1998 11th calver by grange balerno out of a volcan cow.reliability is 33% so not great!! Love this cow always breeds a cracker, she has a son in the Marlhill pedigree herd in tipperary and due next month to wilodge cerberus really hoping for a heifercos it'll be her last calf her hip is a bit dodgy. Its because of her that i'd like to sell him for breeding.

I found him on ICBF. A little information goes a long way.:D
These new indexes are crucifying anything that is hard calving. All the cow side of things are easy calving, but ERE is just dragging down the figures because he is hard calving.
He'll probably turn out a super looking bull but maybe not suitable for heifers. You could sell them that way, I suppose.
