    High Society (My First Time)

Ok – my first time at a musical last night . High Society. My wife wanted to go, love and all that. It was in that rather sillily named energy company theatre. I was expecting an older crowd and was pleasantly accurate – (BTWI only write like this, because it is a theatre review , I haven’t a clue).

Is it considered rude to fall asleep ? Many people did.

    Leave ? A few did.

Sing full songs when sitting 18 inches next to a first timer ?

Anyway a pint of Heineken at half time and I found myself rather uncomfortably getting into it. I found you need to sort of leave your brain at home and run with the outrageous and outdated storyline.

The steps are way too steep for the age group in the upper circle(Higher Society(boom)), it seems ridiculous that there is a level above – more like a view of soccer match.

The sound seems ok (no experience of anything else) – but hard to get the lyrics all the time – well this was not helped by singer next to me as I had a seven (mental) one surround sound experience.

Again, without having a clue – the lead male (Dexter) sounded flat – but there was plenty of talent on the stage – the female cast were top notch (in my inexperienced ears and eyes).

One of the songs in the musical is about a love of Gin (great performance by rich rotund Uncle). I was thinking is it a requirement to have a Gin before and at mid point to fully appreciate the musical experience.

    So an amateur review.

    Theatre 7/10
    Music 7/10
    Singing 6/10
    Drink 8/10
    Story 6/10
    Overall Experience 7/10 (rather uncomfortably)
Steps 4/10 ( I’m not looking forward to my 60s)
    M&Ms 9/10
    Singing Crowd 2/10
    Taxi Line 10/10
    Value 8/10
