Anyone know how much it costs to have one of these changed with a main dealer and at what mileage it needs to be done?

    Car is a 2011 1.5 diesel.

I think the interval is something like 150,000km so it is unlikely that it needs doing yet on a 2011 car?

Car had 140,000 on it. She rang around Renault Dealers today for quotes. Belt has to be done between 140k and 160k. 2 renault garages in Dublin wanted €420. Renault Athlone €280. She asked what it would include - all 3 said the same thing. New V belt and a full timing belt kit. I'm guessing she'll be going to Athlone!!

I doubt if those quotes include the water pump, particularly the €280 quote. Best to double check that before proceeding as changing the pump at the same time is a very good idea.

We would be charging around €350 for the job including the full kit and water pump, just for comparison.

None of the quotes included the water pump!

Well I would definitely recommend changing the pump at the same time.

    George,

I have a 2004 megane saloon petrol 1.4, it has just over 50k miles on it, when should the timing belt be done on this?

    Thanks in advance.

That engine is 5 year intevals IIRC. (could be wrong though)
Assuming its never been changed of course.

The car owners manual in our 2010 has tables that tell you when the timing belt is due based on the engine etc....

ASAP if it has never been changed before.
