I know a few accounting students. 25 hours Monday to Friday. The hours and timetable won't allow for work exp during the college week.

Id say dont worry about other peoples opinions, you sound like you have a real interest in the course so just go with it and enjoy it, i find enjoying the subject matter makes college much more profitable.

Ben is dead-on. You have an interest in it so it's going to suit you. People I know who do accounting wouldn't be the most engaged students and their results reflect it so if you put in the work you'll be fine.
