High end Gaming laptop for under €2000

    Hi guys just wondering if anyone has come across any good high end laptops for €1000-2000 recently? Thinking something along the lines of Alienware power but hoping there was some more options out there. Where else should I be looking?

    Check the PCS configurator, 2 grand will buy you a quad core i7 with a GTX 680M and then some.

    They certainly do (£19).

    PCS build their laptops on Clevo chassis.There are a few threads around here. For more info and reviews, check their own forum.

    High-end gaming laptop is a bit of a misnomer, they are equivalent to low-end pcs. If you actually do try to use them for gaming they end up melting in a year or so as well. Also they weigh so much as to not be portable anymore!!

    There is no such thing as a good high-end gaming laptop imo.

    So a quad core 3.7ghz(boost)+ with SLI 680m is not high end?

    High quality gaming laptops do not "melt".

    Of course you wont get that setup with €2000, you could get crossfire 7970's though

    Not compared to a desktop. The mobile cpu and mobile gpu are gimped versions of the desktop ones. So a mobile i7 is pretty feeble compared to a desktop one. i7s are a waste of money for gaming anyway, i5 is faster.

    Well the 680m is a downclocked version of the desktop 670 and can be overclocked back to 670 standard. but anyway

    AlanMc86 a work mate of mine ordered from pc.co.uk and the thing I would advise you of is taking out the dead pixel guarantee. You would have to ship it to the UK but they would pay for the shipment back.

    Well, aren't you the expert... care posting the benchmarks then, where a Core i5 is trashing a Core i7.

    I didn't say it trashed it. I said it often outperformed it.

    As you can see in most cases the performance is very close. However hyper threading is not free, it imposes a penalty. So in situations where HT provides little or no benefit (gaming ) the i5 often beats the i7.

    Laptop cpus are totally different tho, the laptop i5 has different models, some with 2 cores and some with 4. Makes it even more difficult to compare.

    OK this has gone WAY off topic. YES I understand gaming laptops pale in comparison to a desktop of the same price. However that is not my concern, I need it to be mobile and powerful. So I was just asking for maybe a link or 2 for a laptop or website, not for advice on how much a desktop counterpart would be better. Thanks.

    You are comparing apple with oranges. The desktop i5 and i7 CPUs are both quads. Mobile Core i5 (the ones used in laptops, the topic of this thread) on the other hand are dual core processors and they don't come even remotely close to the gaming performance of a mobile quad Core i7 processor.

    Btw, both, mobile i5 and i7 processors support Hyperthreading.
