Yes, I got one about 15 years ago, and it was amazing! It looked plainer then than they do now, stock is different and underlever lock up seems different too.

I used to shoot field target with it, with an old Tasco 3-9 x 40 Silver Antler scope! It was very accurate and heavy enough to damped any recoil. Again, as I have mentioned here before, Weihrauchs out of the box are great, but get them tuned, and they are stunning to shoot! If funds allowed, send it to Sandwell Field Sports or V-mach first before importing here, and have them give it a basic tune. What you then have will amaze you and cycle silky smooth;)

Would buy a '77 in the morning if it weren't for the cert, and i'm nearly maxed out with air rifles as it is:D

    I plink, therefor I am...

Bought a PCP "HW100 .22" in jan 2012 "my first air rifle" for shooting crows mags ect ect around the yard and further. Seriously accurate and fun to use/ only down size is its heavy. If your going to be doing inside barn/shed shooting ya might want to go low ft.lb or you could have lots of holes in the roof:eek:

@ Charlie: I wouldn't go tuning it until you know whether or not anything actually needs tuning.

Having said that, the Trigger on them can be an issue as it has some creep in it and AFAIK it's not adjustable.

If it's in good nick though, it'll drop the pellet exactly where the rifle is pointed so as long as you do your bit it won't let you down.

Beyond that I don't know how much experience you have with springers but just in case (and I hope I'm not making a feeble attempt at sucking eggs here), here's a few basics:

    - You can't sit them in direct contact with a rest - you have to cradle the front of the rifle in your hand. You can sit your hand on a rest alright, but you need that intuitive "shock absorber" there in order to guide the recoil and prevent the shot from getting thrown off as unlike any other kind of rifle, the recoil will start to effect your hold long before the pellet actually starts to move. Similarly, bipods are a waste of time with springers and will do more harm than good to your groups. ;)

    - In general, springers perform best with medium to lightweight pellets (<15gr in .22, <10gr in .177) as the heavier ones induce more recoil and have a longer residency in the barrel, both of which leads to bigger groups.

    - Try to avoid dryfiring them, if you need to decock, you can hold the lever back and release the piston slowly once you pull the trigger.

    - Pellet choice matters!! Stick to the better brands. H&N Barracuda Match, JSB Exact, RWS Field series, Crossmann Premier, etc... As a rule, go for "match" grade pellets wherever available. Avoid pointed pellets entirely, and if you're buying hollow points then go for the best quality you can find (Crossmann do a HP in the Premier series which is pretty damned awesome!).

    - Finally, these rifles are far more accurate than they're given credit for. In the right hands with the right pellet and no wind, they will manage ~2" at 100yrds, so at typical vermin ranges of <50yrds, they'll happily stuff the pellet wherever you tell them too. However - they do take a bit of practice before you'll get that from them. I've had a HW90 group 5 .177 pellets into one hole at 25yrds though, and it's got the same trigger as the '77 but doesn't have the benefit of the fixed barrel - so if it can do that, then yours can do better. ;)

Have fun - they're a crackin' wee rifle.

    Sorry my bad typing again:eek:
A G S, is the name of the scope, i was told that it was a good brand and up to the job because it was going on a pcp, but not so because it needs to be re zero ed quite a bit

Lots of good info there from extremetaz, and of course, you don't have to tune your '77, it'll serve you for years as it is.

But, personally, every tuned Weihrauch that I have had the pleasure of shooting has been a totally different animal from that straight from the factory.

No worries on the trigger front, the '77 of course comes with the world famous "Rekord" trigger unit....a precision adjustable match trigger. Widely recognised as one of the best about in spring airgunning!

good news on the trigger - the one in the '90 is pretty ...agricultural. Would be the only thing I'd fault about the '90.

Sounds like the '77 has the same trigger as the '100's then - if so then it's a gem!

Weihrauch had to design a new trigger mechanism for the HW90, as it had Theobens gas ram instead of spring. They called it the Elite, and deemed it necessary as the Rekord "was incompatible with the gas ram system".

Being an airgun anorak....that's from a review of the HW90 in Airgun World magazine from Jan 1990.....:D Yup, still have them all collected in binders:eek::D
