What would happen to my old oil & tank?

This hopefully doesn't sound too much like a silly question! If I decided that I did want to move from oil to gas, what happens to my oil tank and whatever amount of oil is in it? Is it taken away by the people installing the new system?

you could use all the oil in the tank before changing over .if your tank is in good condition you can expect to get 100 euro for it on donedeal.ie

I wish Boards.ie had been around when I converted from oil to gas. I contacted South Dublin Country Council to ask what to do about the remaining oil in my tank and was told to contact a hazardous waste removal company who would remove it. The company said they'd take the oil off my hands for about €300!! I ran down the oil before converting to gas.

The thing is that a lot of clueless people would actually fall for it. I mean look at the question the OP asked (no offence op). They'd get paid for taking oil thats worth €1 per liter and they'd be laughing going off in the truck.

Some people even have the money to replace their heating system just because its not heating the rads as well AFTER a repair.

Anyway, why would anyone ever want to get rid of their oil system while oil is still in it? Would (un)common sense not tell you to use it up and not be letting it go to waste.

More money than sense, some folk.
