Exchanging for UK license - lost Irish license

    Hey all,

    Hopefully someone here can shed a little light on this issue for me. I am currently living in the UK and have lost my Irish license and therefore need a replacement. I presume I should be getting a UK license as I am now living in the UK but obviously don't have my Irish license to submit for exchange. Anyone have any advice on what can be done here?

    You'll have to report your licence stolen to the RSA and Gardai, you might have to get a form filled in from the Uk police to present to the Gardai. Fill in the necessary forms and apply for a replacement Irish DL.

    You'll obviously need to do this in Ireland, so a day drip should suffice.

    With that in hand you can then apply for a uk licence .i.e Swap

    Agree that would appear an option but are you not required to be resident in Ireland? I.e. would you not need to make that declaration in the application for the Gardai to get the new Irish license?
