Relocating oil tank

    Hi.
Just wondering is there much cost/hassle involved moving an oil tank. The tank is currently up on a banking out the back of the house, the boiler is in a small hut/shed at the bottom of the banking. We're thinking on moving the oil tank in to the garage which would be mayb 25-30ft from the boiler. Just wondering is that too far, as I know the tank needs to be raised for the flow of oil? We have a feeling our oil was robbed recently so it would be a bit of help in that regard, not to mention the oil tank isnt the most attractive thing to look at where it is.

    Cheers.

    Chris.

PS - Getting the boiler serviced soon so will be asking, but just wondering of peoples experiences on here.

You would be wise to get your boiler serviced by a Oftec Registered engineer, not only can you have confidence that it is done correctly but they will put you right as regards to relocating your oil tank. Tanks installed within a building must have full fire protection and must be bunded.

Yeah I went through the oftec site when looking for the guy to do the boiler service, so hopefully wont get some cowboy!

So we'll likely need a new tank aswell.. Garage is a corrugate sheeting garage, what sort of fire protection are you talking?
