Nokia Lumia 820 issues

ok so i have taken the jump to windows phone 8.

I got the Lumia 820 and have noticed a few issues / Bugs

    1. battery life is dire, i am getting just a few hours use out of it,
with NFC, Bluetooth , etc off, and blocked background apps.

    2. if i have a hidden wifi network, and connect the phone to it, it will connect
but then drop the wifi, and use mobile data instead.

    3. randomly happened a few times, screen went black, buttons stayed illuminated, and the only way i could get the screen back on was to remove and replace the battery.

not impressed overall, as it appears a bit buggy, and ages to charge battery.

i charged it fully last night, and it was off from 12am until 8am, and now im charging it again since 10am.

Sounds like you got a lemon - I'd return it for another or visit your local Nokia repair outlet

to update this thread, i uninstalled some bloatware apps, vodafone app, and the angry birds one, and battery life is great now.

im on day two now with 58% battery remaining, and thats with normal phone use, email, calls, browsing.

the more i use it the more i like it, battery life is excellent compared to iphone, the phone is a good solid phone, good selection of apps, can take a 64GB memory card, and has battery that you can change.

i went with this, over the 920 due to the memory card, and replaceable battery on the 820.. the screen is great too.

also you can sync your itunes music to it too!

i have my 64GB iphone 4s on the shelf now.... and im happy with the 820

Well if you picking this over a iphone 4s it must have something. I was going to go for the Galaxy S3 but too expensive.

What did you uninstall? My wife has this too on Vodafone and she loves it except for the battery life. Could you be a bit more specific on what you did? Thanks

I'd remove any vodafone software, that will probably fix most issues.

anyone with a link to a good sd card to buy that would take 30gb worth of musci and not slow it down!

Click and hold on an app, uninstall option will appear, click uninstall, uninstalled.

Should this phone be able to operate as a satnav without a network connection? Tried to find directions earlier and was told that the maps library could not be reached.I downloaded the Irish map for the phone already.

should do, it works on my Lumia 920 anyway when abroad and data is turned off. are you using Here drive? Check in there that you have the right maps installed. Then turn on Flight Mode and test it out.

Once you download the maps it'll work grand offline for the sat nav.

Was in the US during the summer in Washington, Oregon and California and had it not been for the sat nav I'd of been rightly bunched trying to get around.

Its a great phone and can do everything an I-phone can do and more. Pity there is still a lack of apps and it is difficult to get decent covers for it.

.....as above, for the last week.
Must've unticked something that I'm not aware off in settings.
Can someone give a quick rundown on what the common symptoms are please?
    Many thanks.

Yep, it should be possible. Here Drive+ is installed (or can be installed) for free. You may have to download the maps first, but then its fully available without Data connection. Also since its the plus version, you can download maps for any other country too (providing Nokia have the map data for it).
