XBMC - Buffering

I have XBMC installed on Apple TV 2.

99% of the time it works fine but some movies are un watch-able due to buffering every few minutes.

Is this a problem with the source file or is there something I can do to fix this issue.

    Thanks

    Are they portals?

The buffering issues I encountered are files stored locally on a NAS

Does it happen consistently to particular files? If so, they're probably higher bitrates than others, so the connection can't feed them through quick enough. How is the NAS connected to the XBMC? Is there a wireless connection anywhere along the way? If so, that's probably the culprit.

Is it a problem with your network? How is the ATV connected (wifi?) and what is the bitrate of the movies that are stuttering? (if you don't know how to check bitrate then size and movie runtime will do)

I had the exact same problem on xbmc from for the raspberry pi, raspbmc whilst streaming from windows. This solution worked perfectly for me. not had a constant buffering issue since. Hopefully this can help your platform too. http://www.stuffaboutcode.com/2012/08/xbmc-raspbmc-kept-buffering.html

The NAS is directly connected to the router and the Apple TV connects via xWIFI.

The particular file and AVI, 1.72GB, 1 hour 55 mins.

Larger longer movies stream without issues. Lord of the Rings for example,

I'll try that suggestion about editing the cahce

Have you tried using ethernet see if it's a network problem

That's a strange one, its only about 2Mbps average bitrate. Shouldn't be any issue streaming that over even the worst wifi connection.

Can you post the mediainfo of the file?

No, not yet. The fact that its one or two files smaller than some other media that plays without issue, I thought the network was fine.

Either way ill rule that one out.
