EAL in Post-Primary Schools

    Does anybody know of any courses or in-service available for teaching EAL in Secondary schools (other than ACELS). There always seems to be a few hours floating around in EAL Departments for teachers whose contracts have come to an end & that Principals want to hang on to.

    The Department haven't done EAL Inservice in a few years. You could do a course like this one though: http://www.atcireland.ie/brochures/SQT%20Course%20Outline%20(3).pdf

    It would qualify you in EAL for Summer schools and also in the secondary school.

    I did mine in UCD at night during the dip. at the time (2008) it was the only recognised EAL course for teachers to teach at primary or second level. This might have changed.
    There is onsite t.p with adults.
    It's the post graduate cert in TESOL ( teaching english to speakers of other languages)
