I have an Irish name and I don't like it, or most Irish names, especially ones with random fadas. I really hate the names Tiernan, Fiacra, Sadbh and Síofra. I'm an equal opportunities grump when it comes to other names. I hate the names Jamie, John Paul, Ciara and Sharon too.

Cornelius. Poor friend had a miserable childhood.

I love Irish names. I have one child with an Irish name and am pregnant with another, so I will give that an Irish name too.

I despise my name, seriously, if I still spoke to my mother I would yell at her, Natalie, but since I am from Cork, it was always Nat-ly! Hate it so so much.

    Reece (skanger version of Rhys?)

I was going to say this - I know two boys with this name and they are both horrible kids.

Wasn't there a story out a few years ago where they polled teachers and the name Reece or Rhys came out on top as being the name they dread seeing most on the student register or something? Must see if I can find it...

I don't mind my name. ONly dislike it because its so common, I know 7 of them not including myself. Probably more actually.

I hate the name Agnes. I know a baby with that name and I can't stand it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 222 ✭✭SmilingLurker

Dermot, Kevin, Aodhan, Peter, George, Christian, Jesus, Mohommad, Nathan, Tyler, Robin
Shania, Britney, Chantalle, Concepta, Assumpta, Christina, Kayla, Layla, Aoibhinn, Michaela, Robin

My own first name is listed above. (reasons: I dislike religious names, names that could be both male and female, associations with people, or sometimes irrational I just don't like the name)
