Seeking retention permission - DIY

About 12 years ago I built a single storey kitchen/diner extension onto the back of my terraced house. It fell within the remit of exempted development on all but one point: I didn't leave the prequisite 25 sq metres of garden to the rear - there's about 20 sq meters unbuilt upon.

I've been told it would cost perhaps 2k to assemble the documents/pay fees necessary to apply for retention where I to employ a professional. A good chunk of this amount would appear to stem from the various drawings required. I'm a mechanical engineer and am competent enough with AutoCad to be able to give this a go myself having plenty of other things I'd like to spend my money on.

Having scanned through the planning application form two questions arise straightaway and I figured here might be a place to have them answered.

    1) An ordinance survey map reference (and grid reference number if available) are required. Where and how do I get these?

    2) Three categories of drawings are required: site location, site layout and detailed drawings of the build itself (plan/elevation/section). Notice is given that the drawing schedule must comply with the Planning & Development Regulations 2001-2012 which I'd hope someone could distill down for me here. I was also hoping that someone could email/link me to relevant samples of each of these drawings so I could see what kind of detailing is required in the context of an Irish planning application.

    Thanks in advance..

Your LA should have examples for you to see. Your best option would be to trot along to the planning office and pull a similar type, relatively new, successful application (they are public files after all) and see how it's done. For some LA's this can even be done from the comfort of your own computer.
