I met a lady at the bar last night and with a few drinks and bravado I suppose interview technique I made out I was qualified in a proffession I won't be qualified in until the end of the year following a couple of exams, I also didn't mention I am only an intern where I work. I suppose things got carried away and we ended up back at hers unexpectedly.

I never retracted or told the truth. Rest of the night was usual drunken hook up stuff. Today I feel absolutely terrible, I actually really like this person who is in a top job in the proffession I am entering, I'm 30 btw late starter at it.

We agreed on a second date but do you think I could organise a face to face to tell the truth or have I completely blown it on this one. I know it was idiotic thing to do but I've been on the receiving end of many tall tales on a first meet, is it what people do? Or did I really go over the top here? I know I have deeper issues as well.

Go on the second date and say that in a bid to impress her you told a couple of porky pies and leave it at that.If she likes you she'll probably have already looked you up in a professional directory and seen you're not there.Just be honest and tell her you feel a bit of a fool, she probably won't mind too much if you come clean asap.

If you know you have deeper issues you should consider seeing a professional to help you through those.

    Like, why did you lie?

I would say no, it is not what people do. I would also, personally, say you did go over the top.

Apologise to her, say you liked her that's why you lied and move forward in honesty.

I honestly think we all can lie a little bit to impress someone? On the second date as a previous poster said just explain why.. It's not a massive lie, and it was to impress her!
I wouldn't be upset if a guy lied/bent the truth to impress me tbh.. I'd be quite flattered!
