Ok OK. Never knew people imported cars from Japan in any large number, the Tax laws must be alot harder over here

I remember lots of dealers importing white Japanese cars in the 90s.
After a car reaches a certain milage in Japan its discouraged from being used so are sold off cheap.
The micra (march) has always been a popular import.

Micra was a March... Carina was a Corona ... Almera was a Pulsar ... Colt was a Mirage ...

Iirc there was a legal case where a dealer sold a Toyota soarer here but advertised it as a Lexus gs300. They were to all intents the same car. The dealer removed the Toyota logo from the boot. The buyer sued and won2 years later because it was not a Lexus.

Anyone remember that? Or have I dreamt it?

At one point, during the boom, Ireland imported more Japanese imports per head of population then any other country in the world.

It was a toyota soarer as far as I remember, badged as a Lexus. There was never a Lexus soarer. That was an isolated case and to be fair wasnt the norm.
