Sounds like you mean arm muscle because you will build muscle using most exercise if you eat and rest/sleep properly for muscle building. The only difference is where the muscle builds up.

Jogging will obviously build up your legs.

You wanna do your arms, then you can do weight machines or even basic exercises like push ups, dips and pull ups. Careful not to overdo it though if you haven't exercised those muscles before.

Unless you're just starting it's not really possible...
Following a plan like Kris Gethins 12 week or Lee Lebradas 12 week (both Bodybuilding.com) would both be good for what you want...

You could give the Leangains system a go. A lot of the before/after stories there show people gaining strength/muscle whilst cutting. I don't like it though because loading carbs only on ''refeed'' days isn't suitable for people playing sports or doing metcons nearly every day. I'v tried, and you just feel miserable until the refeed day comes then end up scoffing entire boxes of cereals.

There's a lot of variations of this type of diet out there now aswell. Jason Feruggia's Renegade Diet, Tom Venuto's Holy Grail Body Transformation program, Kiefer's Carb Backloading etc. You can find them free if you look hard enough :pac:

Obviously you have to train and try get stronger aswell.

Jogging builds muscle in your legs? Mind blown! That's where I have been going wrong!

Take up weights. I lost a stone, fairly painlessly, doing weights and changing little else. Well I say painlessly...

A weights session 2-3 times a week, lots of water, should pack on some muscle. More muscle means more calories required in a day while at rest to sustain the muscle. Pack enough muscle on(doesnt need a lot) and you should see significant losses.

That said, diet does come in to play. Five portions of fruit or veg does not mean 5 potatoes for dinner.

Maybe stick your current diet up and have people critique it?

Unless you're just starting it's not really possible.
Most people are untrained or probably have low enough muscle mass that for the vast majority of the population it should certainly be possible.

This "impossibility" comes up a lot, some even go on about thermodynamics, saying its a 100% physical impossibility (except for fat chicks). I have asked about this several times and go not replies from anybody saying or inferring its impossible. Most of them would admit that in 2 years you can have gained muscle and lost fat, then when you ask when the impossibility comes about they head off. e.g. does it become impossible in under a year, a month, a week, a day? whats the magical number of seconds?

I am NOT saying its the most efficient way to go about it, but it might suit some people better, who do not want to go on long term over/undereating regimes.

I started weights and remained around 12 stone constantly for a year or so, dropping belt sizes continually. Losing fat & putting on muscle at around the same rate, oh and baffling the Einstein wannabees ;)

Similar story here. I got to the last hole on my belt and had to cut 2 extra ones because my pants were falling down. Loved seeing the increase in weights I could lift. Started at 15kg setting on the machines, and got up to 60 on some of them.

Im going back to it next week.

High protein diet with no junk food, no drink and an exercise routine of weight training (centred around the compound lifts) with some low-mid intensity work at the end of workouts has worked for me. Down from 108kg at start of july to 93kg now (38/40 inch waist down to 34, suit jacket from 50 - 42/44 ) which includes going picking up an extra stone over xmas which has since been lost).Worked for me so it might work for you.
