In theory Shimano have a better tooth profile.

    SRAM Red cassettes are noisy.

SRAM and Shimano have some different sprocket combinations which may make your decision for you.

I read somewhere that ultegra chains are faster

I just replaced my Sram cassette with a very similar Sram cassette, the PG-1070 model. I can't compare it to Shimano, but well maintained Sram one lasted me over 20k km, so not bad. I may try a Shimano at the next change.

Lad in lbs told me SRAM chains are more reliable. Other then that I can't really comment.

thanks for that.. i know sram chains are better alright.. broke a few shimanos over the years...

much of a muchness, srams 11/26 is a nice ratio for the hills...

probably go for an ultegra anyways...
