Heavens, I just got my latest electricity bill! It had gone up quite a bit over the last 6 months or so, but now, with the oxygen compressor and a new electric fire to supplement the heating (instead of an open fire) it has doubled! We get the allowance, and now I can see why!

When I was caring for my mum, our bill was usually five times what it is now in winter, as she suffered terribly from the cold so we had electric heaters on all the time.

I think a lot of people have will get a shock as well with the reduction of the free electricity allowance.

And the reduction in the phone allowance, respite grant, prescription costs.

So much for protecting the most vunerable in society.:mad:

So how did your bill go

I have to say I've been crunching all my finances the past 2 months trying to see how we're shaping up and it dont look as good as I thought.

The electricity bill really shot up over the last year or so . It just came out by direct debit and I didn't really notice. Very clumsy by me.

We always paid around 170/180 per bill . It shot up to 240 and last bill was 285 . Wow I nearly chocked on my Brecy this morn .

In last 12 months I even replaced all lights for energy saving lights.
