Oscara Dara

Anyone know what races Oscara Dara is entered for at the festival? All I can find is an entry to the world hurdle, but is being quoted for the coral cup too.

I was very impressed with is run in the Lanzorate, he picked up well when asked once over the second last, and more impressive was how he got going again on dead ground after a stumble on the last to come away again and win well.

He's gone up a stone in the weights, but looked like he had a lot more to give picking up the way he did after losing all momentum.

I wouldn't mind having an ante bet on him for the festival before tomorrow's race, possibly for the coral cup if that was going to be his next target?

Entries for handicaps don't come out until closer to the date. I think he'll definitely go for the World Hurdle if successful tomorrow and I've had a small bet on him at 20s with Betvictor (NRFB) in what looks a very weak renewal.

    Thanks for that.

I think I will do the same, as his OR would be a massive negative for the coral anyways going on trends.

    Cheers.

    Nick Mordin:
OSCARA DARA A SERIOUSLY GOOD STAYING HURDLER

OSCARA DARA (38) clocked a fast time to win the valuable Lanzarote handicap hurdle at Kempton. And he would have run even faster if he hadn't made a mess of the last.

In the early stages Oscara Dara just cruised along in midfield. He was still cruising as he improved to lead entering the straight while all his rivals were being hard ridden. He himself was not ridden till after two out whereupon he quickly went clear. He then made an almighty hash of the last, jumped it sideways and landed on all fours, losing a lot of momentum. It was a testament to how much he had in hand that he was able to recover quickly and scoot clear again to win comfortably, full of running passing the line.

If Oscara Dara hadn't made the last flight blunder I'm pretty sure he'd have completed the run in very close to the 13.3 seconds taken by Whitby Jack instead of the 14.7 he took. If he had then he'd have earned a rating of 40 from me for this performance. That makes him look a very interesting proposition not just for handicaps but for the top staying hurdles.

Brave, brave words. Can't agree at all myself but we'll see.

The Romford pele could pull off a bit of a shock in that race tomorrow.

Although I won't be backing him again, I think its a little too soon to be writing him off just yet. Off 140 he wouldn't have won today and he went out like a light under a tender ride from AP. The owners have a blog so will have a look at that and see if they update it tomorrow.

Anyone think that ride by McCoy was a little suspect

Nope, he never looked happy on the horse. From a very early stage you could tell he wouldn't be winning.

It'll be interesting to see if anything comes out from the stable so. Ill have a look at the race again. I thought he was doing a McCoy special following last weeks run on binocular.
