    Hello,

We continually will have a flow of people looking to join Sanshou clubs and expect this to turn into a flood this year, especially if the sport is brought into the Olympics in September!

If you run Sanshou classes and are interested in joining the ICBA send me on your contact details for a club listing (locations, email, website, phone).

    icbasanshou@gmail.com

This directory will be listed on our website and we will point potential students in your direction as they come searching for Sanshou! Also we will be sending out membership packs shortly for your information!

Our Sanshou events are open to all clubs, styles and fighters but our National titles can only be held by ICBA members! Conditions of membership will be part of the pack and we would welcome your club 'officially' joining our association.

Currently I have people looking for a Sanshou club in the Swords and Blanchardstown area!

I look forward to hearing from you guys.

    Thanks
    Paul Moran

General Secretary - Irish Chinese Boxing Association

Why exactly can titles only be held by members?

I can kind of understand the events themselves being only open to members who have all had blood work done to make sure they don't have hepatitis etc but if they been allowed to compete and win a title fight then surely they are the title holder regardless of membership or not?

We would like to know that the fighters who hold an Irish Sanshou title would have a certain level of commitment to the sport, their country and to a lesser extent the organization they would be representing! You couldn't just show up at the Irish Amatuer Boxing Associations National or the Judo Associations National Championships unless your club is recognized by those bodies! There would be nothing stopping you from competing in those sports to a certain standard but really you could never advance to the highest echelons of competition!

The Nationals are not an open event so non members wouldn't have the chance to compete for the title in the first place! If a club/coach/fighter is serious about the sport of Sanshou (at least to the point that they would want to target a National title!) then membership shouldn't be a huge difficulty for them! It's not like we'll own your soul or anything, we would simply like to build the Sanshou community and expose all those interested in developing the sport to the best training, the highest standard of competition and run well organized events!

Ah ok, I thought you meant from "Our Sanshou events are open to all clubs, styles and fighters" that it was an open event but that a winner wouldn't receive a title.

    Thanks for clearing that up.
