    Hi!

Is it still possible to stay in Dublin Airport at night if you have an early flight? I'm not sure if it's a different setup with the newer terminal. Has anybody done this lately?

    Thanks!

AFAIK terminal 1 is open 24 hours, but as to why you would want to stay *in* it as opposed to bagging a cheap room at Bewleys etc, I have no idea :)

I agree. you'll be totally wrecked the next day due to lack of sleep. Airports deliberately designed not to be comfortable for sleeping in.

Couple of good spots to sleep in Terminal Two. Crazy to spend money on a hotel for what may only be a few hours.

What you see as crazy money, I see as money well spent for not being wrecked on a long haul flight and trying to murder each other later on due to lack of sleep :pac::pac::pac: or indeed losing time on your holiday because your banjaxed due to attempting to sleep in a noisy airport (with announcements every few hours and chairs that are intentionally designed to be uncomfortable for sleeping on)

Singapore Airport and Schiphol have hotels in the terminal where you can pay by the hour.

Was never so happy to rest my head and grab a few hours of needed kip during a stopover in Singapore.

Besides, the hotels around Dublin Airport are pretty cheap anyway and include a free transfer.

Getting to Dublin for an early flight isn't very easy anyway unless your dropping off a rental car.

    Thanks for the replies!

Well, I will get to the airport at midnight and only have to wait six hours or so before check-in so I don't want to bother getting a room for that short of a time. I probably will be a little nackered if I can't find a good spot to rest my eyes for a couple of hours! I guess I can sleep on the plane!

What part of the country are you travelling from to get to the airport. there are a number of buses that travel to airport during the middle of night.
I can recall getting a JJ kavanaghs bus from carlow once at 3am or so for a flight leaving at 6:30
There are other airpot bus services about also that travel very early

My usual pre-flight routine, (for 06.00ish flights).

The night before - Few nice pints in O'Connell's pub, Eyre Square.

Then sleep my way from Galway to the airport on Citylink leaving at 1.00 and arriving at the airport just before 5.

Perfect timing to beat the mad queues at security and grab some breakfast.

I have however, often spent a lot longer at the airport overnight. In my experience Terminal 1 is better than Terminal 2 and its only a couple of minutes walk between the two. McDonalds and Starbucks are open all night and there are plenty of comfy places to get the head down for a couple of hours around Starbucks.

Its safe (there will be plenty of others doing the same thing), and its relatively quiet. I'd consider it a waste of money booking into a hotel for the sake of a few hours. And I'd probably oversleep there too :o.

As long as its 'a few'
Don't want to turn up at security reeking of Guinness :D
