I know the commerce course alone doesn't offer much in terms of exemptions, but does specializing in it in the final year make any difference to more exemptions?

    Thanks

Probably a little late for you if you were applying through the CAO. In final year commerce you have to choose a stream to follow. Following the accounting stream does provide quite a few exemptions. You could also just apply for the Commerce(Accounting) course which means you will specialise in accounting from first year. This probably accounts for a couple of more exemptions(not many more though).
