Hi, I am looking for anyone who might be knowledgeable about a coin a friend of mine found near the Red Cow probably in the 80's. Any information about the coin would be great, such as a name, who is pictured on it, why the big HM stamps on it, also what would it have bought at the time it was issued or how much work a ordinary person would have to do to earn such a coin. It was found somewhere near old ruins to the south of the Red Cow. http://goo.gl/maps/koETO

It was found well before any Luas line was there and probably around the time the M50 was being laid.

We lived nearby when we were kids, and the story came up whilst we were away for a weekend.

Any info would be great. Many Thanks

It's a copper "cartwheel" twopence. They were only minted in 1797.
