The company behind the One 4 All gift cards says it is not experiencing financial difficulties, despite a "baseless rumour" to the contrary.

The Gift Voucher Shop, which is the company behind the One4all brand, said social media rumours that the company was in trouble were "totally without foundation and untrue".

The company assured customers that One 4 All gift cards and vouchers continued to be fully redeemable in more than 5,300 outlets nationwide.

In a statement this evening, the company said that it recorded a 14% increase in annual turnover to over €150m last year, which follows similar double-digit growth in each of the past five years, and said it was on track for continued growth this year.

One tweet said: "One4All rumoured to be going into liquidation tomorrow. Anyone with vouchers might want to get shopping."

May be true may be a lie.

However I would not trust any kind of gift card or voucher ever again.

Even if the company statement is 100% true the fact that a social media post can cause panic just goes to show how low confidence is in gift cards and vouchers of any kind.

    Did not know that thanks.

Unlike HMV backed by lies it kept selling the things over Christmas.

I'm sorry but that is just idiotic.

Would you say you will never trust a shop again because HMV went bust!?

Time to exchange them for some B&Q vouchers.

another site suggests the rumour started on Boards?

I don't see how one for all vouchers are better than giving someone money. Both scream "I hadn't a clue what to get you" but one is a lot more inconvenient.

No, it just shows how gullible most people are and their utterly blind faith in the gospel of twitbook.

    Same thing happened with game.

And it is hardly because they went bust.

It is because they knew they were going bust and carried on selling the vouchers anyway.

Use to be a Chinese treatment center that sold courses of treatment they went bust game went bust HMV went bust all in the last year.

In all cases people who had gift cards were left high and dry.

I grant you they are some shops like Dunnes and Tesco that are a really safe bet.

However if your giving somebody a paper gift good old cash is safer then the safest chain of shops.

No I did buy plenty of HMV vouchers in the past but not this Christmas thankfully.:)

I feel sorry for the people that did and really sorry for the poor workers.

Euro notes are the best one for all vouchers. They can be exchanged for any goods and / or services.

The company should try to go after whoever is responsible for starting the baseless rumor. I wonder how many people rushed out to get rid of vouchers today because a few idiots on Twitter etc said they should.

Social media is the sewer of the world wide web these days.

I didn't hear about this online- a colleague's brother works for a major accounting firm and he texted this afternoon about it.

Am glad to hear all is well with the company-not least because I gave my mam one for Xmas to help fund her next trip home from France :D

Exactly. Why the fuck do people buy gift vouchers anyway? Oh yea, it's a more personal present than cash...

The statement they issued is like the chairman giving the football manager the vote of confidence:p

My wife is gone to Dundrum to get a new pair of jeans in Oasis... courtesy of the €50 One4All sitting in my wallet for 6 months. Told her to spend it like she stole it..:D

Tried using it to get the kids some clobber in Next at the weekend and they only take the feckin card based One4All.. girl said they will change my paper voucher for a card based one; for a small admin fee... ah yes the famous small admin fees.
