I was in the US before Xmas and left my iPad in my uncles house. I won't be back over for another year of so and he hasn't planned any trips here. If he posts it to me are customs going to charge tax on it coming back into the country?

No they shouldn't but do you have your receipt from when you bought it? If you could scan that and email it to your uncle and get him to put it in the package and also perhaps an email stating your case that would help. Make sure it's sent by USPS not UPS/DHL.

Thanks for they reply. I haven't got the receipt unfortunately :( Maybe the email is still worth adding though. Why UPSS over the others?

USPS are less likely to be stopped by Customs. Although it is still likely. Do you know anyone who will be over in the states that could bring it back for you?

Unfortunately not :( Noticed a friend of mine was in New York 2 days ago on facebook but she was in the airport on the way home when I thought of it :(
