First of all - find yourself good dissembling manual for the laptop (PDF). This expensive toys are tricky and easy to break - seriously (cable connctions).
Best start for buying new screen is ebay.

I agree with zom on all he said.
Replacing a screen is a much bigger task than replacing a HDD, RAM or a CD drive.

If you can find a document from the laptop manufacturer on how to disassemble the laptop that's a good start or if you can find a youtube video of the same they are very helpful.

Ebay is very good for finding parts such as a replacement screen once you buy from a decent seller with a good rep. Be careful if you order the screen from outside the EU you will get caught for customs charges.

Generally you can replace a screen without having to disassemble the lower section of the laptop (keyboard area). There is usually two/four screws on the bezel of the screen, once removed there should only be plastic clips holding the two halfs of the screen casing together, carefully remove and your almost home :)

I would not recommend to even start without manual. Youtube might be helpful with simple tasks, but replacing the screen usually means complete laptop disassembly. If you don't have big experience, or at least did it already with the same model, don't start without manual.

Is the laptop screen itself physically damaged? If not it may be as simple as swapping out the inverter, which is usually mounted just below the screen in the frame. Replacing the screen is possible, but have the ut-most paranoia while doing so, a lot of small wires and fragile components.
Also, if you're looking for the screen make sure to get the exact make and number which are printed on the actual LCD, not the laptop, and check for it on ebay, you may get lucky and find a scrap laptop with it.

I changed one on my dell laptop, got it on ebay. There were probably 2 options, replacing the bare screen -big horrible job,

or getting a replacement screen already in the outer casing like this, still a nasty job, but much easier

not sure what happened, kids may have dropped it, has picture with all lines and big blurred patch at the bottom of the screen

That'd be physical damage then, so full screen replacement. When you open it up though check the back of it just incase the big data cable yoke is a tad disconnected as that can sometimes be the source of the lines. Sadly the big blurred patch is caused by pressure warping the screen and I don't think it can be repaired.
