was thinking of upgrading my hop up chamber in my mauser sr but was thinking of trying a new hop up rubber/bucking first.was looking at the r hop but looks like a big pain to fit and costly if done wrong(new barrel) so if anyone could reccomend or point me in the right direction that would be deadly:)

It would only cost you the price of the R-hops which are quite cheap, I was toying with the idea, and SOCOM from here on boards fair play to him sent me a IR hop up patch and it was a balls to fit have to say, awfull amount of tweaking, sanding, assembling and dis assembling. You would want a few to just to get them right. I think if you have time and patience its worth it as a project but don't get your hopes up.

You can purchase them from air-lab.co.uk or hunterseeker armoury.

I am assuming you mean recommend an alternative, G&G green rubbers, promtheus pink and guarder clears are all great choices, you can get SCS H-nubs which pinch the bb at two points creating more backspin I used this with the prometheus pink rubber but to be honest I did not see a noticeable improvement in range in comparison to the prommy pink nub, then you have the shredders concave nub which are meant to be a good mod but no experience with them.

If you want to improve your range, grouping and give yourself a fps boost (caution with these mods can boost it by 5-15fps maybe more so your gun could shoot hot) then get a decent rubber, a tight bore barrel and good quality BB's.

i thought the r hop was as much of a pain looking at it on youtube u have to cut the barrel and then sand and tweek it 2 thats why i was looking at an easier option will look into the ones u mentioned just looking to get better grouping with the sniper thanks for your reply:)

God no, you do not have to cut the barrel at all, you have to cut the patch to fit in the barrel window, once that's done you have to sand off the nub inside the hop up bucking, the newly sanded hop up rubber provides your airseal and nothing else.

Then the fun starts, you tune the r-hop. Like any hop up your going to get too much hop or too little. you have to sand the two flat pieces of r-hop patch so that it fits in the window and does not go too deep into the barrel, sorry if the description is confusing :), if your getting too much hop, then you have strip the hop up assembly again, sand some more from the patch, re assemble, re-test and you get the idea where I am going with this.

to be honest not really new to airsoft so wouldn't be that well up on the understanding of tuning the nub i understand the use of the nub but its adjusted with the hop up arm so im lost to why it has to be tuned and i wouldn't have a clue how to tune it.this is stuff i'd like to get to know just don't know where to start

God no, you do not have to cut the barrel at all, you have to cut the patch to fit in the barrel window.

Some barrels require modification of the window, for example KM Head.
Window in KM is not long enough, and need to be extended. Is also too deep, and requires an increase the height of the walls.

thats what i thought the vid i seen he extended it to get a bigger contact patch so i thought it had to be done to all barrels

In most cases, the barrel does not require modification, but you get better results if you cut the window and use the full length of R-hop path

had a feeling i was going to hear that well not experienced enough for that so its just left to find a good bucking problem is the bucking in the mauser is shorter than most buckings for m4 etc

just came across this on the net what the r hop is made of at least if you make a mistake on one r hop it can be cheaply redone http://www.airsoftsociety.com/forums/f10/rpk-support-weapon-build-32550/index24.html :)
