Photography in DIT

    Random question, but anyone here studying/studied Photography in DIT? Would they recommend it?

    And secondly, what's the standard of work like for the portfolio? Super high, or whats? I know they give guidelines on the website, I just want to see what standard I'd be up against. Any tips? :)

    Hey, I'm planning on submitting a portfolio in March too :)

    Emm yeah, well I've a whole collection of images but haven't decided on which ones I'm submitting yet.

    I submitted a portfolio two years ago but didn't get in.. Been working on it since, so hopefully it's good.. :P

    That's cool, are you submitting all 20 or?

    I think I've decided on about 16 or 17 divided in a few different themes/genres.

    What score did you get last time around?

    Yep same, about 16/17 or there abouts...

    I can't actually remember the score I got tbh, but I think I was close enough. :)


    Did you apply to IADT photography aswell? :)

    I put it on my CAO but I later found I can't apply as I'm applying through Fetac.

    So I think there's no point submitting a portfolio so I'll be focusing all my efforts on the DIT course. I'm still unsure as to if I want to put it as my first choice, I'd like to study journalism too so I'm undecided.

    Have you got either as your first choice? :)

    Oh right, I have it down on my CAO atm but may be changing it, distance and all. :P So I mightn't submit a portfolio there at all...

    I have journalism too. :P I have both Fine Art and Photography in DIT too...


    Atm I've music courses down first few choices.. Pretty much interested in music/photography. :P

    Do you have to travel far? DIT is only a 20 minute bus journey for me so it's handy too..

    I'm not at all artsy, the closest thing to art for me is with a camera. People could draw/construct better pieces of art with their feet than I could with my good hand. I'm awful.

    Have you applied for DIT music?

    No not at all, it'd be about 20 minutes for me too to get to DIT, IADT a little longer...

    I get ya, that's one thing that worries me actually.. Someone told me before there's some drawing in photography.. I wouldn't be expecting any masterpieces from me though. :P

    I have applied to DIT music yess, but decided I'm not going to go ahead with it. :P
