Beep/Bleep test

Just wondering how a fit guy can not embarrass himself during this? I know a lot of people say the first few minutes are practically walking, but if you don't really know when the beep is coming how are you supposed to judge how fast to run?

Also any other tips are appreciated.

Thanks in advance for putting up with a kinda stupid thread.

Watch a video of one on youtube. It'll give you an idea of how far apart the beeps are at each level.

Once you hear the length of the first interval, you know how fast/slow you need to be. It gets faster at a very slow rate so the acceleration is almost subconscious

    Did it today, got 11.2.

Could have possibly got more but I was the last one doing it, so didn't see a point.

if your doing it in a group, just match the pace of the group to start

Download the 'Bleep Fitness Test' or something similar, go to a football pitch, put a jumper or whatever a metre inside the 21 metre line, stick in your headphones and run in and out from the end line. Practising the bleep test helps you keep your head and gives you the confidence to ignore the people that start sprinting once it gets to level 5. If you have time to do it enough the fitness is obviously a great advantage too. I usually run to the 21 metre line when practising, this is a metre longer than the real thing, which will put you at a psychological advantage when doing it for real, but I wouldn't do it unless I was comfortable with the pacing first.
