I am looking for anyone who uses either myheritage.com or geni.com to
research their family history. I am carrying out some research about methods of getting information on family history and would appreciate anybody who uses either of these 2 sites to contact me?

That sounds a little vague.... Can you say what questions you'd be likely to ask these people ?

I would be inviting them to a focus group to be held in Dublin during February to discuss family history research in general and those websites in particular, they would receive a cash incentive for participating in the research which would last for an hour and a half? Basically it would be their opinions of those websites and how they found them.

Shame to only deal with those two sites. I'm not a fan of either - too much data online. I have only a basic direct ancestor sketch on my ancestry account.

I think myheritage bought Geni recently, actually. Is this research on behalf of either group, or something separate?

My only subscription is with FMP.ie and I am now considering Ancestry but never used myheritage.com or geni.com.

I used myheritage some years ago when I set out with creating my tree but once my tree exceeded the number of members allowed in their free software I bailed out. The ongoing monthly costs too high compared to just buying another software package outright.
As above, main pay sites I use now are ancestory and rootsireland. Tried FMP but not worth it.

Ellie, I have been using Myheritage for a few years now and I'm a paid subscriber.

If you want to PM me I'd be happy to let you know my experiences.

As your offer involves payment it would be more in the spirit of this forum to be a little more open.... By that I mean are you conducting a study via a customer focus group for the named entities? or for one of their competitors? or for yourelf as part of an academic exercise?

I believe my post was as open as it could be, I am indeed conducting a market research focus group and the client is only disclosed
to the people who participate in the research.
