    Hi guys

I wonder if I’m to post into this forum or the other forum on graphics.

Anyway, I need a graphics card as my old one (Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 Xtreme - 1 GB GDDR5) has been damaged and can’t be used (short circuiting the board due to liquid spill). I’m not a gaming person and just need the card for streaming and editing photos/videos. Best value for money out there will suffice at the moment. My setup is:

    CPU: Intel Core i5 2500k
Cpu Cooler: Arctic Freezer xtreme Rev 2.0,
    Motherboard: MSI P67A – GD65 (B3)
    PSU: Super-Flower Amazon 550W
    RAM: 4GB G.Skill RipJaws-X, DDR3, 1600
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate

On another note, If I'm to add more RAM to say 8GB, which one would you recommend?

    thanks

Any ram will do. Most popular these days are corsair stuff. Get yourself 1333 or 1600 stuff. I would recommend a whole pack of 8gb, not just add 4gb more.

As for gpu. Maybe 7770 low profile will do? Maybe even 6770 or 6670?
7850 would be a great choice if you still will want to throw a game now and then.

Anything atall will do if you don't game. A 6670 is around 60 and would be ideal, but you can obviously go cheaper as you don't game. That would run games around 720P mark anyway or higher. If getting 8GB of ram buy 8GB and remove the old ram. Its pretty cheap these days anyway.

I'll echo what the lads have said, if you dont need it for games, and graphics card will do. As for RAM, another kit of yours would probably only run you about 20 quid or so, I'm nearly sure MemoryC stock it !

    I just spotted a cheap 1GB 5450 on Adverts.ie for €24 delivered;
    http://www.adverts.ie/graphics-cards/radeon-hd-5450/2555215
Performance-wise, it's a bit of a step down from your 5850 (256-bit) to the 5450 (128-bit), but good value for money.

However, your system spec really screams out for a quality graphics card.
I have a very similar system atm, with a Sapphire 5850, and it's performance really helps when editing
video in Sony Vegas Pro 12, as it uses graphic card acceleration. (Vegas Movie Studio doesn't, though)

thanks guys for the advice. I think I'll go for a cheaper card at the moment and wait a few months to get a good deal on a good card (as I believe new cards are being rolled out around March which might push the price down on the existing ones).
