If your looking for a good "Traditional members club" Delgany is also just up the road.

Other options would be Powerscourt (36 holes)/Druids Glen and Heath and Glen of the Downs

Most of them are on Teetimes.ie so go play them and have a look round.

Prices will vary a bit but good possibility of renting memberships in Powerscourt/Druids for a year a going else where if doesn't meet your needs

Yea decent track. Well kept mature parkland. quite hilly with most holes playing up or down hill. Short enough bar one hole (think 12, par four that the second shot plates about 2/3 longer than the yardage)

Home to 4 Ryder Cup players too. Can get out for 20 quid or so on teetimes and pierse purcell qualifing on there in May

Wicklow Golf Club are doing a deal if you are between 24 - 30 you can join there for an all in price of €484 per annum. Seems like a good deal. As has been said it's 4 miles from where you are.

Thanks a lot for your help!:) I will play the places mentioned above. What are your views on Woodenbridge G.C, I heard its a really nice course????

Woodenbridge is a beautiful course. Go play it and you'll see. Might be a bit of a trek from Ashford but if you don't mind driving for about 40 minutes then another one to be recommended. I heard before we got the bad weather that it was in great shape, greens were really slick for time of year.

I played Tulfarris a couple of times last year in open comps...cost €20. U do need a GUI handicap tho. In my opinion it is one of the best parkland courses in Ireland and the scenery is b'ful. Don't know what the story is re membership.

It may be a bit of a journey (30mins or so) from Ashford considering you've got plenty good courses close by, but I played Macreddin a few weeks ago and thought it was a fantastic course.

A bit hilly, so it might not be to every bodies taste, I don't mind it at all and I'd rank it among one of the best courses I've played to date.

As I said, it mightn't make much sense to join but I'd highly recommend a round there if nothing else.

We were there with a member so we paid €15, the best value round of golf I've had. The guy in the shop (hope I don't land him in it) couldn't have been nicer either. Wouldn't take any money from us for our teas & coffee. Gave one of our playing partners a free rental driver to use for the round too.
Hope his boss/owners aren't looking in, if they are... well don't worry, you'll be getting a lot more visits from me/us over the years.

Enjoy the 4th hole, Par 3, out there if you do play!
A long par 3 with a 40-50 meter drop from tee to green.

(Not affiliated to the club, even though it may look like it, was just blown away by the welcome, course and service)

Greystones GC is also open to membership.
Druids Heath is also and they seem to have a great deal with one junior mebership thrown in and the option to include the pool and spa for an addional 150.

Woodenbridge is a really great course, beautiful setting, very well maintained and a friendly club, I would have thought 20 mins from Ashford via Rathdrum would do it easy enough, It is only 45 mins from Glenageary/Dalkey if you go the right way. They have a number of joining options open too.

The other option if you want a members club is the new Dun Laoghaire (3x9) which is only 10/15 mins from Asfhord and have interesting membership options with really fantastic facilities and superb course layout/ practice facilities. Great fairway/green drainage too.

You are spoilt for choice really!! Play them all and see what you love!
    Cheers

    Peter

I really appreciate all your help :) It will take me a year to play all the the golf courses in the area, I think I will narrow it down to 10 clubs within 30mins from my house... I will keep you all posted:) Thanks

I'm originally from Ashford, dad is a member in Old Donna, which is 20 mins away. Anywhere between Bray and Ark low is do-able. Blainroe isn't far beyond Wicklow, Woodenbridge is do-able. Play around the courses and see which suits you best.

    Hi Guys,

I hope this weather picks up, I still have not yet got to play any of the Golf Courses in the area, I am down to play Woodenbridge G.C on Friday in a open team event.
    Fingers crossed for the weather!
I will keep you posted on my progress :)

I have played Woodenbridge G.C,Arklow G.C and Wicklow G.C so far.I have to say Wicklow had some nice views, Arklow is great course too, but hard lost alot of balls:(
Woodenbridge for me stands out, the scenery, the setting in the valley,it really is a hidden gem. The condition of the golf course is first class, the greens are the best I have played on for a number of years:). Can't wait to go back

I am on to Druids Glen/Heath next as i hear they are doing great deals on membership.

If I lived in the Ashford area then I would 100% join Wicklow GC. Brilliant course and a reasonable price.

Biased, being a member but I agree with this. Woodenbridge is a fantastic course but its 30min drive from Ashford and on a nice summer's evening, you will be thankful for a short 7-8min spin in the road to play 9 holes at Wicklow.

Also, as mentioned above, Wicklow are doing a special for full membership for €484 for 24-30 year olds.
