I have the same on my CV. The 2 jobs were identical duty wise, so I just have the one description but made sure to put above it the names of the employers along with the dates. Whether that is right or wrong I don't know, but I felt duplicating the same thing made the CV longer than it needed to be.
    Hope that helps. :)

No. I have the 2 employers named side by side with the dates in bold, then the job description underneath them.

Surely your achievements at each job are different?

    e.g. you implemented W & X at job A, you improved Y & Z at job B, etc.

That's a fair point Mr Loverman, however, the positions I refer to on my own CV were exactly identical - 2 different companies doing exactly the same job using identical work methods and equipment (airport handling agents UK).

The only achievements in the role would have been progression to a higher role, eg from Agent to Lead Agent to Supervisor etc etc and then obviously the job description would change. Having said that even the higher roles of Lead Agent and Supervisor would have very similar job descriptions no matter which company you worked for.

Of course this might be different for the OP I know nothing of the role of a Med Sec and I imagine there would be differences/variations in work methods depending on which practice/hospital etc you were at.

l was only in GP practices so my work & role were practically the same.

What you said bijou, l put down the employer & date etc & than gave a description of the work l did.

CV sent off now so fingers crossed :pac:

On a CV the job description just shows the responsibilities you had in the role. it doesn't show how well you completed the job. That's where the achievements come in. Even if the two roles were exactly the same in terms responsibilities, were there any victories (big or small) that you can point to in order to prove that you did a good job?

My class tutor did up my cv with me for this role, l'v never put down victories l achieved etc on my cv, l'v only ever been asked those in an interview.

Your CV should sell you to the employer, so it makes sense to include anything which makes you more valuable.

Maybe I'm weird but when I see a CV which only shows responsibilities and tasks I think "this person won't show initiative, and possibly lacks ambition". Some employers want to hire those sorts of people though.

In future, i def think you should list both jobs and roles separately. Make them sound a bit different rather than repeating yourself

I see what you're saying but how can you make them sound "a bit different" when literally the only differences between the 2 jobs was the different uniforms and different airlines handled by the agents :D:D

I would agree with Mr Loverman. You need to group these roles together, so that your CV is not repetative, but at the same time you need to specify certain achievements/accomplishments. The day-to-day might be more or less exactly the same, but you can still mention a specific project you completed on time, or report you produced, or even the fact that you progressed within x amount of time is worth noting.

I think probably it is the format of your CV which is causing you to run into problems - have a look online. Not all CV's need to follow the traditional job, place, dates, description, job place, dates, description format. There are other options available. And using some of the more modern formats will make it easier to keep your CV to 2-3 pages, make it easy for the reviewer to see the important points, and will also show prospective employers that you are keeping up-to-date with trends in administration and are interested in making your CV be noticeable.

    Here are some ideas

the only thing I would say is that unless your job is one which is creative or design led, avoid ones with too much artwork or gimmicks. Keep it clean, sleek and professional. Particularly if your role involves 'organisation' - a well thought out and organised CV shows that you are able to focus on the important and salient issues and organise them in a practical and easy-to-follow manner.
