If your left leg power accurately reflects average power over the course of a ride, then this is a good solution. Andy Coggan has shown data whereby the left and right legs diverge by a large percentage over the course of a hard effort however.

AFAIK the only power meter that measures left/right power is the Look pedal system. All others estimate it.

...which is available in all good shops equipped with a time machine and an optimistic view of the future.

edit: in fairness, the Keo Power system isn't available yet either.

if it does make it to market it looks like a fantastic idea. thought their original idea was built into the pedals but it's now on the shoe which is pretty cool.

wish i was an electronic engineer.

I know two people with them............. very much available

Stages is pointless and useless. Its not predictable nor consistent with where its data is wrong so why bother?

OK, not on the bike, but the Wattbike does provide a full analysis of left/right power. My experience is affected by long-standing back problems resulting in ongoing sciatica mainly in my right leg (which used to be my stronger leg). What I find is that when "riding" at a modest pace my L:R split can be anything up to 54/46, representing a near 15% difference. Normally it will be up to 52/48, which can still be an 8% or so difference. Interestingly when I am going flat-out it's much more even - either 50:50 or 51:49 (but rarely with the right leg stronger even when the sciatica is not too bad)

Boo. I was seriously reaching for the Mastercard there but it's all campag only :(

I was in same position but ordered Campag one anyway. Replacement shimano freehub will cost 60e and you could flog the new campy one anyway. Go for it , is a great package.

Thanks for the tip off Brad.
Have to flog something to pay for it now though!!

That is a great deal IMO. I'd be tempted to buy a second... If I used my first one enough

It would be a great deal if it worked with Garmin head unit (ANT+). Can't even consider it because of that.

But ANT can work with BlueTooth

It will work with any ANT+ unit, so your Garmin would be fine.

Have a powertap myself, they are ok if you are light(sub 70kg) and/ or ride limited miles exclusively on perfectly paved roads. My torque tube has gone three times since I moved back from the UK a few years back, gave up after the third time - was just not worth the hassle anymore.

Thanks for the update about ANT+ ... I thought I had read somewhere that they were not ANT+

What about this one ... Shimano hub which suits me better than the one mentioned above?

Interesting, I have gone through a few torque tubes too... is it related to bad roads and weight on the wheel?
