Partial Build Advice

    Hi all,

    I've got a dell 435mt which has served me nicely for a couple of years. I do everything through the one pc. Gaming, music production, media centre - tv/netflix/DVDs/music.

    Recently upgraded to a samsung ssd pro for the os and discovered bios doesn't support ahci so I understand I'm not getting the most out of it.

    Its never used much electricity which has been nice, but at the same time this has kept certain graphics/sound cards out of reach as the power supply I have is too low.

    I like the look of the Corsair 600t as a starting case but after that I'm not sure what my best options are. It looks like its not a total monster sizewise with plently of upgrade room.

    I am the type of person that likes to future proof as much as possible so unless price is outrageous I'm happy to go with higher end components (the price of some high end graphics cards can be scary however!).

    1. What is your budget?

    No budget at the moment as can potentially do build piece by piece. Intital requirement is for case/motherboard/chipset/ram/power supply and graphics card ideally (but could, muddle along with radeon 4600 depending on how cost is looking..

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer?

    Gaming - BF3 and BF4 I suppose, Arma II, AC3
    Music production - cubase, reason, hypersampled vsts
    HTPC

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [Yes/No]

    No

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer?

    Yes - Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB
    Velociraptor 600gb
    WD 3TB (Green I think)
    radeon 4600
    x-fi titanium
    line 6 pod ux2 (usb external)
    sony DVD writer.

    5. Do you need a monitor?

    No - Dell 3011

    2560 x 1600, no plans to upgrade.

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals?

    No - is wifi standard with any motherboards these days? That would be nice and would need to be wireless n.

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [Yes/No]

    Not really interested at the moment, but wouldn't rule out in the future.

    8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser]

    CC/Laser

    9. When are you purchasing? [In x days]

    In the next month I suppose.

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based?

    Dublin, should be ok on my own, have never installed power supply however.
