Ford S-Max Zetec - rubber boot handle won't engage

    Hi there,

    I have a Ford S-Max Zetec (Year 2009).

At the moment, we can't open the boot manually from outside the car because the black rubber handle/lever/button won't engage (it's just above the number plate).

In the past, there would be an audible click and we'd be able to lift the boot by hand. Now we cannot hear a click. We are able to release the boot by using the key fob - thankfully that still works.

Hence it's my belief that the latch is perfectly OK, but the connection between the manual handle and the latch is blocked/stuck/broken. It seems very hard to gain access to this handle as the entire interior to the boot is one continuous panel with few access points.

Would any experts out there help me with investigating or fixing the problem, i.e.

    1) How do you gain access?

    2) How to tell if the handle is broken/stuck or blocked and what to do next?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated as it is driving me mad.

    Regards

    James

Most likely the micro switch is faulty seen as it works from the key fob.

    Thanks Martin,

Is there any way that I could mend the micro switch problem myself - or is it definitely a garage job?
