Recommendations for 50in plus TV

    Hi folks,

Any recommendations for a decent TV in the 50 inch plus range? I'm mainly interested in picture quality, don't need 3D or smart. It will mostly be used for Blueray movies with some gaming by the younger members of the family. 4 HDMI inputs would be nice but not essential as will eventually be paired with a decent 5.1 receiver.

    many thanks!

Pete - apologies for the delayed response!

At the budget end we have the Panasonic TXP50X50 Plasma at just £399.95 (although stocks are tight at the moment)
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/panasonic/viera-txp50x50b/pana-txp50x50b

The 50X50 just has 2 HDMI - so it probably won't suit though..

Next up and a big step-up would be the LG 50PA650 at just £449.95
    http://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-50PA650T-plasma-tv

This unit moves the HDMI count up one to 3 (we're getting there)

If you want a huge step up in performance next up would be the 50PM670 at £569.95
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/lg/50pm670t/lg-50pm670t

You are getting into a different league at this stage as the 670 is Active 3D, Smart, with 4 HDMi and 2 USB inputs - and both the audio quality and picture quality are radically better than the PA650 or the 50X50

If you wanted to try an LED/LCD rather than a plasma you are pretty restricted to a 46/47" or a 55"

The best 46" deal I have is the new Philips 46PFL3807 - I have one of these left to clear at just £499.95
    http://www.philips.co.uk/c/televisions/3800-series-117-cm-46-inch-full-hd-1080p-dvb-t2-c-46pfl3807t_12/prd/

Keep me posted if any of these are of any interest and again apologies for the delay getting back to you,

    Hi John,

Thanks for that - food for thought there. I would consider moving up to 55in, any recommendations?

    Pete.

Hi, sorry to hijack the thread. Do you guys deliver to ROI, and if so, how's much does it cost. I'm interested in the LG tvs, and your prices are the cheapest I've seen!

    Hi Pete,

Best 55" offer I have at the moment is the LG 55 LM670T currently priced at £1,299.95.  This comes with a 5 year warranty included.

It has alot of the features you didn't require (smart, 3D etc)  Main thing though is the picture quality and this TV is out of this world, the TV its self looks very slick too.  Well worth a look, check the link below:

    http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/lg/55lm670t/lg-55lm670t

Let me know what you think.

    Hi Gerry,

We can deliver most TVs we stock.  There is some models though that are in-store only so would need to be collected here in Belfast.  If you're on the website any screen with 'Buy Now' we can deliver.  If its listed as 'Exclusive to in-store customers Only' or 'Last Few' then it has to be collected.

We carry most of the screens on the .com website, there is a handfull of models we dont though so worth double checking with us first.

    Pete...

    The 55ST50 has just dropped to £999.95 - that's a complete steal!

    Pete,

the 55ST50 does not include the 5 Year warranty - but you can add it at just £99.95 no problem..

I's suggest the PXPB3260 http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv-accessories/pixel/pxpb3260/pixe-pxpb3260 if yuo wanted a flat on wall bracket at just £49.95..

     Hi guys,

I'm highly interested in that Panny 50ST50 and also  TV stand for it if you can recommend me any. What would be the delivery cost for TV + stand  to Kildare?

    Many Thanks,

    Kris

    Kris,

    Thanks for the post

The Panasonic TXP50ST50 is £899.95 and delivery to Kildare would be £29.95.

If you wanted a decent quality stand keeping the budget reasonable then I'd recommend the TVS ST42 at just £39.95
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv-racks/tvs/tvs42/tvs-st42b3cm
    showimage.php?image=305669.jpg&max_width=300&max_height=260
Unfortunately due to the combined weight if you wanted this shipped then there would be an additional charge of £12.95 so the total cost of the Panasonic TXP50ST50 / Stand/ delivery would be £982.80 / €1199.99

Thanks again and keep us posted if we can assist - we have them all in stock and ready to ship today,

I'm following this thread here ,and am putting the few pennies aside for this beast...
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/lg/50pm670t/lg-50pm670t
How much do you reckon it'd be to have it delivered to Co. Roscommon, if at all possible?

    Gerry,

the problem I have on the PM670's is actually getting my own paws on any at the moment - we are completely sold out at the moment and I don't have any visibility on re-deliveries on either the 50 or 60" PM670 - I'll ask the question in the first instance then we can go to work on delivery,

    Hi John,

I'd be very interested in this as well. What price can you do for delivery to Cork?

Also and not wanting to hijack the thread I'm looking for a wall mount for a 42" Panasonic plasma and a price for some in ceiling surround sound speakers as well.

    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Ashdale,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

Due to the weight and size of the Pana you'd be looking at £49.95 delivery.

For the 42" wall mount are you looking just flat to wall?  If so you're starting from £49.95.  For the likes of a swivel bracket you're starting at £99.95.

We stock a few in-ceiling speakers from Monitor Audio.  All very slick looking and sound great too.  You're starting of at £99.95 each for the Monitor Audio SCT165 Trimless speakers.  Check the link below for more info:

    http://www.monitoraudio.co.uk/products/ci-series/trimless-100/ct165/

Let me know what you think :)

    Thanks for the reply Chris.

Just on the speakers I'm completely clueless when it comes to them so you might be able to help me. Are these just for rear speakers in a surround sound sysytem or can you use them for front speakers as well? Presumably I'll need a sub woofer as well?

Basically I'm starting from scratch in a new room that has been wired for 4 ceiling speakers and I'm looking for the best option to get surround sound going in there.

Sorry for the stupid questions but as I said I'm clueless.
