Mike Dallas Jnr v Lucas Martin Matthysse

    matthysse-dallas-2.jpg

Is there no hope for Mike Dallas jnr to achieve victory tonight ?

I always thought he was a decent fighter, used to see him on ESPN's Friday fight night a lot.

Matthysse is looking straight past him from the sounds of it.

Dallas could do very well here frustrating Matthysse and nicking the second half of the fight on points.

But how will Dallas fare when tested with the Argie's power.

Matthysse weighed in a little light at 138.5 lbs

Dallas was heavier at 139.5 lbs.

Dallas to 20/1 to win this fight tonight (Betfair)

The under-card is also looking like a fantastic match.

Selcuk Aydin v Jesus Soto Karass

A 10-round affair but this one will not see the final bell tonight.

It could turn out like Rios vs Alvarado. This one will be great while it lasts.

Selcuk weighed in 149.5 lbs and had to run off and lose half a pound to make weight. contracted weight limit is 149lbs.

    Really looking forward to this.

PaddyPower got this one 4/7 : not to go the distance.

Decent price even for a 10 round fight.

Jermell Charlo v Harry Joe Yorgey

    Looks ok on paper .....

The old Vs the new , experience vs vivacious.

Charlo the big favorite in this contest.

    Could be good.

Skybet has 11/4 for this fight to finish between and including Round 6 - 10

Even though I really like Mathysse I don't know enough about Dallas to bet on this, but I think Soto-Karass is made for Aydin. He'll be right there to be hit while trying to land his own. I see Aydin stopping him in the mid-rounds.

Fully expecting Matthysse to win here .... but Dallas is alright.
He's a great price ..... got him at 25/1 on Betfair just a very small bet.

Got 1/3 on it not to go the distance am trying to trade out on BF at 1.18 or so

Got Adyin / Soto Karass not to go distance

Charlo match to finish round 6-10

I stayed up until all hours, watching the Charlo twins and Soto-Karass-Aydin just to see Matthysse take Dallas out in one round. Brutal!

It will be nothing short of a disgrace if he doesn't get his shot at Danny Garcia next. He's clearly the best 140lb fighter in the world, and probably one of the best in the whole neighbourhood. The way GBP have been treating him though, it seems more likely they'll rematch Khan and Danny before Lucas gets his shot.

christ some power in such a short shot!!!!

Beautiful finish from Matthysse. He really is the business. I'd certainly fancy him v Garcia who I think is being ridiculously overrated on the back of his last two fights. People seem to forget how amateurish he was looking against Khan til that big left hook and poor Morales was light years past his best.

I was wrong about Aydin. He's very frustrating to watch as I feel if he just worked that bit harder he could be so much more effective. Have to feel good about Soto-Karass though, he's as honest as they come and is consistently in good action fights.

Was quite impressed with Charlo. He has a beautiful jab and isn't afraid to use it. Good speed. Nice balance. Very correct puncher. I'm looking forward to seeing him again.

Isn't Garcia out of action at the moment? Sparring injury against Corley. Judah was meant to meet Garcia Feb 9th. Danny still has to impress me. He has beaten nobody. Khan is Khan. Morales? Garcia is one that will make for some good/great fights, but against the cream I think he may fall short.

I'd love to see Garcia in with JMM. That could be a great clash of styles.

What are peoples thoughts on Mathssye coming into the ring at 163lb?
Something feels very wrong about that.

Is it true? Reports say that he didn't look all that heavier from weight night to fight night. 25 lbs gain is really excessive.

BTW, I am in the camp that thinks excessive gain can also hinder a foe in the ring, which in itself is dangerous. Boling down so much and then replenishing so quickly is not healthy.

As for Lucas, the KO shot would still have been as potent had he been 145-150 lbs. He landed it perfectly. Yes, it would have been carrying less weight in it, BUT, maybe the delivery speed would have been faster

Showtime put it up as their weights on the night just before the fight started.

IV re-hydration perhaps? Unusual alright. Not something that's sustainable either you'd imagine.

Golden Boy really need to pull their heads out of their asses and give this guy a big fight. The fans love him, everyone recognizes his quality, all he needs is the platform. Let him try some of the welterweights if no big name at 140 will face him.

Having watched Garcia's last two fights I think he's relatively sloppy and would be prone to taking a few big shots throughout the course of a fight. If he was in against Mathysse I'd have to bank on an early to mid-rounds knockout for Lucas, serious power there. Only one winner in that match up in the case of a brawl happening.

Garcia is out for 4-6 weeks with a rib injury. The fight with Judah has been put back to April. He still has to prove himself but he has answered all the questions asked of him so far.
