    A neighbour wants to settle up with me for a little bit of silage work I did for him last summer but I have no idea what to charge:

    Five acres:-

    Mow with drum mower
    Row for baling (contractor baled)
    Stack bales in yard (beside field,no draw)

    Any suggestions on price appreciated.

    depending on the neighbor, but if they would baulk if you asked them to do a job for you I would ask for 200 notes, if they are as sound as a pound and always available to give you a hand 100 - 150

    €25/hr cash. If he's a friend and it's a favour €20/hr.

    If he is a good neighbour and helps you out or would help if asked I would ask him to cover diesel expenses and leave at that

    He wouldn't agree to that, he's a proud pensioner and always wants to settle his bills properly and fairly, for both parties.

    Charge him the going rate for the work in your area less 10%. He's getting a good price and you're not working for the sake of it. He can't say you're overcharging him and he won't feel that he's being treated as some sort of charity case.

    Five acres:-
    Mow with drum mower- 5x€20=€100
    Row for baling (contractor baled)- 5x€10=€50
    Stack bales in yard (beside field,no draw)- 45x€2=€90
    Total= €240
