    Hi

I am visiting Shannon area at the end of February and looking to play a round on a Saturday with a friend whose birthday it is (which means I have to pay). Looking at prices and location have narrowed down to a choice between Ennis Golf Club, Woodstock or East Clare.

    Which one would people recommend?

Did you have a look at Dromoland as well?? I have heard they are doing decent deals at the moment.

Had a look at Dromoland but too pricey at €136 for 2 especially as I'm covering the full price of the 2ball. Would like to play Shannon ideally but this is €100 for a 2ball and I'm not looking to spend that much on this in-law.

Shannon used to do an early bird rate, you might check again with them.

Those prices are scandalous, 68euro per person for Dromoland Castle??? Did you ring the pro shop and enquire. I know they do 35 euro per person on Sunday in Dromoland, it really suffers from the wet weather though.

Is Woodstock still open even though the hotel has closed down???

Would recommend Shannon, great course and pro shop very nice as well, played there 3 or 4 times. Ring up and they'll do you a deal, should get out for 30euro each easily enuf.

If you ring dromoland you should get out for under 100 defo...Woodstock is next best but it's amen corner ,the best part will probably be closed cause the lower part doesn't take water well...

Shannon member, course isn't in great nick at the minute but come February should be really good again. The green fee's won't cost you €50 each. It'd be €50/€60 for the two I'd imagine. Ring them up and see what they say

I'm a member in shannon. The weekend is always booked solid so nearly impossible get on at any decent time and the weekday onlys have about 6 or 7 holes open and the fairways are closed at the min.

    Thanks for all the replys.

I rang Shannon and while you can book on the Internet for times around midday for €50 they do not accept bookings on the phone until a week before the date.

Looks like it will be one of the other 3.

Limited daylight hours and members comps/ winter leagues to be fitted in, limiting supply....seems fair enough to me for a Saturday.

Yes. Hotel and club are separately owned.

At 50 Euro and fairways out of play it's a no brainer.

You might consider Nenagh which is usually very dry or Ballykisteen which often has some space on Saturdays and is a good test of golf. Neither will break the bank at this time of the year. They can be reached in a half hour from Limerick easily.
