    It might be easier say

    Cén dath é sin? What colour is this...while holding various items.

    Instead of 'my favourite' which is a little complicated, just say 'I like the colour ____' 'Is maith liom an dath gorm/dearg/dubh/bán' etc.

    Cén dath atá ar an madra? What colour is (literally 'is on the') dog?

    Thanks a mill...and if i want to say what is your favourite colour would "Cén dath is fearr leat?" be completely correct?

    I think so, yes.
    Bear in mind I'm not a primary or an Irish teacher, just going on things remembered from school in the 60s and 70s.
