Wonder does's this ring a bell with anyone? There was this documentary series featuring a South African guy travelling around the world, mainly tropical ,remote places rainforest and the like.Yer man had curly blond hair and was a bit of a proto crocodile hunter ,Bear Grylls type.A lot of the stuff in the program felt very staged I remember one bit in particular where he was in the jungle with some guides and they had a horse or mule which fell over a ravine, though you diden't actually see it happen, just a load of shakey camera work and then the camera focusing on yer man who said "We've lost her".I think it might have been shown Saturday mornings and would have been on around 89,90.

Now that I think of it the whole series was focusing on a round the world trip he made and it ended in Soth Africa. There was this kind of strange sequence where they showed a black and white clip from the 60's of the presenter as a young man walking down the street in Johannesberg and turning around to look at an attractive woman, then in the programme they recreated the clip with yer man on the same street 20 odd years later.Does it still not ring any bells with anyone?

List of South African Television Series on Wikipedia, might be in there.

Annoyingly the list is mostly programmes which were merely shown in SA, hence Dallas, The A-Team etc.

That's quite a list.I've only been able to look through part of it.On further recollection I think it might have been shown on Sunday mornings which would explain why nobody seems to have seen it.

Finally ,hit the nail on the head.Wikied him and it turns out he was Australian. It seems his programmes were very popular in the 70's and 80's they're all up on youtube

A lot of the programme might have looked staged but one of his travelling companions was sadly disabled in an accident during filming.
